What do I need to bring?

Don't own all the gear yet? That's okay.

A Mt. Baker climb requires specialized equipment, but you don't need to own everything before you sign up.

We'll provide a complete packing list after registration and help you figure out what you can rent, borrow, or purchase.

We Provide

  • Ropes and technical climbing equipment

  • Group safety equipment

  • First-aid equipment

  • Cooking stoves

  • Other shared technical equipment
     

You'll Bring

  • Mountaineering boots

  • A properly fitting harness

  • 10-12 point crampons 

  • Ice axe 

  • Helmet 

  • Warm parka jacket

  • Clothing and layers

  • Gloves and hat

  • Backpack

  • Sleeping bag and sleeping pad

  • Personal food (snacks, lunches, freeze dried dinners)

  • Water bottles

  • Personal items
     

Some equipment can be rented locally at REI or Backcountry Essentials or at your local retailer. If you're unsure about what you need, ask before buying anything expensive.
